This renovation of an architect designed 1970’s house situated in a treed gully seeks to amplify the existing relationship between the interior and the sub-tropical surrounding trees and landscape.
The new entry stair and deck weaves through the trees literally in terms of its path and figuratively in its details and materiality. The interior is principally treated as a simple white backdrop to the landscape and thereby increases the light levels in what was a dark house. Black highlighting and cabinetwork combine with the rich colours of the artwork and new bamboo floor to create a contemporary tropical interior enveloped by a lush landscape.
